I sort of thought no one said this anymore, I know I heard it when I was in school, but thought we were passed this. At Christmas time this year I heard my 12 year old nephew's friends saying it and I was shocked. I think it's a great idea, looking forward to seeing how you explore it.
great topic. I would love to have heard more of how you would most effectively present this. Just 'regular person' interviews, any writers/academics/particular figures in the community who bring particular historical perspective or knowledge? So many angles to cover would need a wide variety of interviews by age, race, culture, sex, etc. Would you be able to keep it to a short format? Some fun visuals with words might be a component to think about too. Another angle that would be interesting would be asking a bunch of high school students what they think or random people on the street, not queer identified.
Such an interesting idea. I know we used to say it in elementary school, and it meant "lame" or "uncool", but I honestly don't think we said it thinking that actually being gay was lame or uncool. I wonder if to some people - at least in their mind - it's become innocuous, much like "retarded" has re-entered the lexicon? Great topic, Su Yon!
loven it. i have had so many conversations about this around the dinner table. i would love to see it as a film. and i bet my mom would show it in class as well haha
An interesting idea... and its exploration has the potential to lead to meaningful action and reclamation of language ... great idea! Can't wait for you to make this film!

Very interesting! I'm interested in hearing what all groups have to say, especially the different age groups.
